The increasing importance of sustainability in China

s 867655912578China is increasingly demonstrating leadership in the issues associated with sustainability and CSR. It has committed itself to a huge reduction in carbon dioxide emissions, is putting pressure on businesses to clean up their pollution impacts and is leading a regional commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals. To reflect on this and examine how businesses can play an even more strategic role in delivering on various aspect of sustainability, a one day event will bring together prominent speakers from business, academia and government to share world-leading policies and practices relating to CSR, which help business to meet regulations, mitigate risks, contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals and ultimately, strengthen brand competitiveness in China and beyond.

The International Sustainability Conference in Guangdong (ISCG 2017): Building a World-Class Business Environment across the Maritime Silk Road, will take place on the 23 November 2017, in JW Marriott, Bao’an, Shenzhen.

This full-day International Conference will be a platform for 300 business representatives from Chinese and International Business, as well as international Consultancies, government representatives and academics to develop new business opportunities and partnerships. The Conference will be of particular interest to senior managers and strategic decision makers who see opportunities to take CSR to the next level within their companies and/or to mainland Chinese companies that want to ‘Go Global.’

Dame Barbara Woodward, British Ambassador to the PRC, Prof. Dirk-Jan Koch, Netherlands Special Envoy for Natural Resources, Madam CHEN Lifang, Corporate Senior Vice President, Director of the Board, Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd., Government of the PRC and Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade will deliver opening remarks. Speakers from McKinsey, AIIB, Goodbrand, DNV GL and China Textile Information Centre will discuss how businesses in the region can increase their competitiveness through improving performance in relation to human resources, environmental performance and good governance. In addition, there will be three parallel session covering:
