new Greenpeace report '
Silent Giants: An Investigation into Corporate Environmental Information Disclosure in China' has found that eighteen top multinational and Chinese corporations, including Shell and Sinopec, violated a new Chinese environmental regulation in its first year of enforcement. The new regulation requires companies to publish their pollution information within 30 days of being reported by local environmental bureaus as breaking pollution standards. The report details the levels of disclosure, the timeliness and completeness. The report finds - corporate disregard for Chinese environmental laws, weak enforcement and ambiguity within the new law itself. Full report download
