The Asia-Pacific Housing Forum is a sector conference that gathers under one roof major stakeholders engaged in seeking solutions to poverty housing issues and promoting affordable housing as a driver of economic growth. In 2017, with the theme of ‘Housing at the Center’, the sixth iteration of the Housing Forum seeks to find practical and scalable solutions to ensure that more people have a decent place to live.
Organized by global non-profit housing organization Habitat for Humanity, the event program has been developed with strategic support from Cities Alliance, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and UN-Habitat. Four preliminary events will be held in Cambodia, India, Indonesia and the Philippines, building to the main regional event in Hong Kong, which is expected to attract more than 300 delegates from across the world.
Since it was first held in 2007, the Asia-Pacific Housing Forum has brought together more than 3,400 participants from over 52 countries. Building on the success of previous Housing Forums, the event in 2017 will showcase current challenges and advancements in addressing shelter issues from across the Asia-Pacific region, while also focusing on urbanization, resilience and financing for low-income populations.
